Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

WYS ERP’s MRP helps manufacturing company to forecast the amount and type of products they will purchase, along with the quantity of materials to produce. It is based on two concepts like Make-To-Order (MTO) and Make-To-Stock (MTS). Important process within MRP is explosion of Bill of Material which shows what items are in stock, which item to be purchased and which items to be produced to fulfill the customers demand.

MRP application ensure materials are available for production and products are available for delivery to customers while maintaining the lowest possible inventory levels. By properly managing the types and quantities of products purchased and produced to meet current and future demands you’ll attain high levels of customer satisfaction while reducing cash tied up in potentially obsolete inventory.

Material Requirements Planning (MRP)

The MRP application generates planned orders by analyzing demand for master-scheduled and non-master-scheduled items. Bills of material for the planned orders are expanded to analyze requirements for all lower level items, whether produced or purchased. Requirements at each level are netted against on hand inventory and scheduled receipts for active orders, to determine the need to generate additional planned orders.

Generated planned orders may then be reviewed, optionally consolidated, and released for manufacture or purchase. Multiple reports and inquiries are also available to provide a comprehensive view of current and planned production and purchase activities.



Identifying the Quantity Requirements

  • It accurately determines the material quantity required for product based on what quantity is on hand, in an open purchase order, planned for manufacturing, already committed to existing orders, and forecasted.
  • Requirement planning of the raw material based on the customer delivery schedules and internal production plan.

Running the MRP Calculations

  • Create suggestions for materials that you consider critical, expedited, and delayed.
  • Minimum Stock Quantity of an item and pending purchase order schedules to be delivered by the suppliers considered for generating Auto Purchase requisition in the system with the delivery schedules to save time in creating purchase requisition

Dynamic adjustments

  • As manufacturing capacities and methods changes dynamic adjustment allows the company to adapt buffers to group and individual part trait changes over time using several types of adjustments.
  • Thus, as more or less variability is encountered or as a company's strategy changes these buffers adapt and change to fit the environment.

Scheduling and Load Management

  • ERP possess the capabilities to schedule manufacturing, delivery, and purchasing activities and ability.
  • Among the available scheduling and load-management features that are available in MRP software, production scheduling is a major consideration.

Item Forecast maintenance

  • System allows grouping of items with similar demand patterns for entry of forecasts for an item.
  • Supports default forecast characteristics, such as monthly, bi-weekly, weekly forecasts, total forecast, or by time period, Forecast by amount, or quantity.
  • Supports generation of an entered forecast amount or quantity over a given period.
  • Allows forecasts to be ‘layered’ for multiple forecasts in the same time period.
